This is quite the little gem of a sleeper title! While it is not a huge game or a particularly realistic simulator, it is definitely a unique and interesting game in its own right. Initially a shareware product, it saw physical release both in a single jewel case, but also as sort of a bigbox thing with a VHS included. What we got is a fun and very fluid flight sim that has a bunch of canned missions for you to fly and combat enemy forces. These consists primarily of Russian jets. The cockpit is really nice and somewhat photorealistic for its time, the sounds are well done, and you will even notice small details like moving vehicles on the roads!

The main drawback for me is the overall graphics, as the action takes place in a very dark green landscape and seemingly always at dusk. Even though you can set time to noon for example, it will always appear to be very late, and it looks very dull and gloomy. Luckily, the game is very accessible and it was a breeze to whip up a new palette mod. So below you will find just that, a palette mod that changes the look of the game completely. Daytime is now, well, daytime. Skies are more realistic, the lighting of the plane and scenery is also improved. I took the liberty of creating a desert scenery palette instead of the green hell from before, as I feel that represents more the surroundings the Hornet often flies in. Have fun!
