"Sid Meier's Colonization". Does it need an introduction? It is everything that was cool with Civilization, set in an interesting historical period, with gameplay that was in my opinion far more addicting and fun. I have spent more hours on this game (DOS version) than I would like to admit! Colonization never had many shortcomings as far as I'm concerned, but one thing did bother me a bit through the years. The "fog of war" color/texture with its very blue impression on the screen was never right to me. Civilization had a more normal black "unexplored" area, and my eyes greatly prefer it that way. Luckily there are some few tools that can work with the Colonization file formats. But I had to ask the help of CanadianAvenger to make the final file work. Together we made this little mod that changes the FOW to a simple black color! Oh, and I made a new fish icon because why not. Yay. These are for the DOS version only.

In addition I have done a font mod for the Windows 3.1 version, that changes the font used to something more fitting the game than "Arial". Amazing how much a simple fix like that can do for immersion in a game. You will find both mods below. I would also urge you to check out the little screenshot I found in an old game magazine, that shows the beta version of Colonization! It is the first such picture I have seen and features many notable differences.
