The MicroProse games "F-19 Stealth Fighter" and its predecessor "Project Stealth Fighter" are quite unique in that they captured a time in history where the majority of the public and defense industry had no real idea about how the supposed USAF stealth fighter actually looked, or if it existed at all. So everyone just went with the most appealing design of them all, that of the Testors produced F-19 model. Read more about this on my F-19 game page. What is also a bit noteworthy is that when the public eventually was informed of the actual look and capabilities of the real F-117A, MicroProse based their later work on that and labeled their new game F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0. Thus we never got a true sequel to F-19 running in an updated engine. A shame, because the F-19/Ghostrider is among the most fascinating planes.

This is my attempt to remedy that in some way. "F-19 Ghostrider II" is my fan tribute to the game that never was. The F-19 model running in the quite nice "F-15 Strike Eagle II" engine, using the original F-19 3D model, new 360 degree cockpit views, new menu screens, maps, before/after action screens, modified ingame text, and so on. Controls, gameplay and weapons are the same as in F-15 II. As it is still technically F-15 underneath, there are no stealth-related functions ingame of course. The premise here is that while the F-19 was less stealthy than what the actual Nighthawk turned out to be, the F-19 was able of supercruise (at least in my version) and used that combined with good maneuverability to avoid enemy SAM missiles and aircraft. You can use the difficulty level to increase or decrease your "stealthiness". Now enjoy this little taste of an alternative universe in which "Ghostrider II" was released!

F-19 Ghostrider II - Concept Demo

The mod only works as intended in VGA mode. If you run using GHOST.BAT as intended, it will run with the VGA driver. Use "ALT+D" to switch between detail levels ingame.
